Ex-tabloid editor jailed for 1½ years

-

Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor, was jailed for 18 months Friday for plotting to hack phones, proving that “no one is above the law,” according to David Cameron, who employed him as his communications director. Coulson was told by Justice John Saunders that he “has to take the major blame for the shame of phone hacking at the News of the World. He knew about it; he encouraged it when he should have stopped it.” Coulson appeared at the Old Bailey alongside four former colleagues who were also sentenced following their eight-month trial.
