Bobby Ryan — A SuperHERO for CHEO’s kids
Ottawa Senators superstar forward Bobby Ryan not only scored big on the ice this past season, he also made a difference at CHEO by reserving his private suite at the Canadian Tire Centre for CHEO patients. The Ottawa Senators had an awesome season that included a history-making run to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and thanks to Bobby Ryan, hundreds of CHEO patients got to witness the action live and in person.
Thanks to the program, which is aptly titled “Bobby Ryan’s All Star Kids,” 385 children and youth and 191 families experienced Ottawa Senators hockey from the comfort of Bobby’s private suite. Many had never been to a hockey game before and the experience was an incredible treat for each and every patient. During every regular season and playoff home game, Bobby’s suite became a place where CHEO families could forget about illness or injury and enjoy an evening of NHL action.
“This is something that hits home with the team,” said Bobby. “We’ve been there as a team. We’ve seen what goes on at CHEO and, hopefully, this is an opportunity for them to come to the suite and be distracted from their illnesses for a couple of hours.”
On behalf of all these amazing families, a huge thank you thank to Bobby Ryan and the Ottawa Senators for providing this incredible experience and creating such lifelong memories for so many children and youth!
