Man hit by car on Highway 417

A young man was struck by a car at around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 417 after running out into traffic, Ottawa paramedics said, leaving him without vital signs when paramedics arrived on the scene. Paramedics said multiple motorists had stopped to help the man, suspected to be in his 20s, and someone covered him up with a blanket. The OPP closed the highway’s westbound lanes at the Metcalfe exit. The incident happened on the 417 westbound side just before Bronson.
