Raptors land Carroll on $1B day

-

The first full day of NBA free agency featured skyrocketing salaries and a flurry of moves as players and teams agreed to more than $1 billion worth of deals. The Toronto Raptors signed DeMarre Carroll, adding a player who fits in well with coach Dwane Casey’s defencefirst philosophy. The 28-year-old small forward averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds in 70 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, and was touted as one of the top players at his position available on the free-agent market. Elsewhere around the NBA, Kevin Love inked a five-year deal with Cleveland, Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy stayed put in Chicago, while Goran Dragic is returning to Miami. San Antonio dealt Tiago Splitter to Atlanta.
