Fun in the sun while supporting a great cause: Join Ottawa Network for Education and help support the School Breakfast Program at this year’s HOPE Summerfest. A portion of the funds raised at this event will be donated to the Ottawa School Breakfast Program, an initiative that feeds 13,500 children every morning. As a recipient charity, we urgently need to recruit 50 volunteers to help ensure Summerfest’s success. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, July 11 for two shifts: court teardown from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and site teardown and cleanup from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Volunteer orientation sessions will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. onsite at Mooney’s Bay. Interpreters, please: The South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre’s clientele from Nepal is greatly increasing. Required is a volunteer to assist with one or two groups and act as an interpreter when communication is challenging. Approximately two- to three-hour weekly commitment. Odyssey Theatre: Requires volunteers to help with their summer production and 30th anniversary season of “Theatre Under the Stars” in July and August in Strathcona Park. Box office and concession attendants, ushers, and front-of-house representatives required. Choice of daytime or evening shifts, weekdays and weekends. Around the House: Abbeyfield House Parkdale is a nonprofit organization providing family-style accommodation for up to 10 independent seniors. Needed are committee members (House Residency committee), board members (Marketing and Communications and House Management), shopper, handyman/ woman for small household repairs.
