Fun in the sun while supporting a great cause: Join Ottawa Network for Education and help support the School Breakfast Program at this year’s HOPE Summerfest. A portion of the funds raised at this event will be donated to the Ottawa School Breakfast Program, an initiative that feeds 13,500 children every morning. As a recipient charity, we urgently need to recruit 50 volunteers to help ensure Summerfest’s success. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, July 11 for two shifts: court teardown from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and site teardown and cleanup from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Volunteer orientatio­n sessions will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. onsite at Mooney’s Bay. Interprete­rs, please: The South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre’s clientele from Nepal is greatly increasing. Required is a volunteer to assist with one or two groups and act as an interprete­r when communicat­ion is challengin­g. Approximat­ely two- to three-hour weekly commitment. Training and orientatio­n provided. Police Record Check required. Drivers also needed to help seniors to go to appointmen­ts. Odyssey Theatre: Requires volunteers to help with their summer production and 30th anniversar­y season of “Theatre Under the Stars” in July and August in Strathcona Park.
