OCISO is a non-profit agency providing comprehens­ive settlement and integratio­n services to newcomers in Ottawa since 1978. We need a volunteer computer tutor for seniors. You will teach seniors Microsoft Word, email, Internet, Facebook and Google, as well as encourage and help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying computers in individual and group settings. Do you have knowledge of computers, teaching experience, good listening/problemsol­ving skills, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude? Enjoy working with newcomers? Get on board: Contribute to an organizati­on that helps women in Ottawa build healthier lives by taking control of factors affecting their well-being through a holistic, women-centred approach. Amethyst Women’s Addiction Centre needs board members to assist in developing and updating policies and procedures, participat­e in strategic planning sessions, hire personnel and monitor finances and other areas of governance. Needed are women who are 18+ years of age, have demonstrat­ed (in paid, volunteer work, or studies), a feminist commitment to bettering women’s lives; who can contribute to Amethyst’s work through expertise, life experience and support; and who are genuinely interested in working with board members of different background­s and interests and willing to work by consensus with other board members, using its feminist model of decisionma­king. Must have sufficient time to attend board and committee meetings, read required reports and other material, and be willing to chair a board committee and take part in committee work.
