MURCHISON, Dr. A.C. “Kip”, DDS

April 17, 1929 - August 3, 2015

-

After a full life filled with love, Kip passed away at the Civic Hospital at the age of 86, with his best friend and loving wife of almost 60 years, Val, by his side. They raised three loving children together - Blake (Leslie), Wendy and Neil (Toronto, ON). There were also grandkids: Alannah, Lindsay, Matthew, Jamie, Lauren and Michael. He is predeceased by his older brother Ken Murchison, QC. Kip was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba before moving to Ottawa, where he attended Glebe, Collegiate - as did Val. He later studied dentistry at the University of Toronto and had a practice in Westboro for almost 50 years. Kip loved being a dentist and it showed. His patients will surely attest to that. He was an Honorary Life Member and Past President of the Granite Curling Club (1968-69), Past President of the Ottawa Valley Curling Association (1976), member of the Governor Generals Curling Club (Emeritus). Yes, curling was a big part of his life. He loved to spend time with his family and extended family - at the cottage at Green Lake, QC. Kip will be missed by all who knew and loved him - especially his sister Grace Howes (Bryan, TX) and sons Ian (Austin, TX) and Scott, sister-in-law Jacquey Murchison and her children Don (Calgary, AB), Margo and Keith and sister-in-law and brother-inlaw Ann and Garry Patterson and their children Julie and Janice (Calgary, AB). Kip had a great sense of humour that endeared him to all. He even managed to keep the jokes up while in the hospital (we’ll tell you them later). A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors at the Civic and the staff at the Duke of Devonshire. If Kip had any regrets it was replacing his Cadillac with a 1978 Dodge Omni. Friends may visit at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt), Ottawa on Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday, August 7 from 1 p.m. until time of service in the Chapel at 3 p.m., reception to follow.
