Declarer won the king and attempted to ruff a third round of spades. East overruffed and returned a diamond as West won the ace and cashed the jack of spades for two down, N-S -100.
Ruff in haste and repent at leisure commented the author. South should win in hand and draw trump, discarding two diamonds and a heart from the table. Next he plays a diamond for the nine and king. Declarer possesses the entries to ruff two diamonds and return to dummy to enjoy the diamonds.
Declarer requires clubs no worse than 4-2, and diamonds 3-2 or the ace-king fourth in East or West a singleton ace or king (about 69%).
