The Florida Highwaymen: group show in celebration of Black History Month, work created by the Florida Highwaymen, an artist group composed of 26 African-American landscape painters from 1950s Florida; film screening Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. of The Highwaymen: Legends of the Road; exhibit to Feb. 29, SAW Gallery, 67 Nicholas St. Presented in conjunction with the Embassy of the United States.

Learn to Paint with artist Katerina Mertikas, Feb. 11, 6:30 to 9 p.m., Koyman Galleries, 1771 St. Laurent Blvd. Absolutely no experience nor skill are required. Part of an ongoing series: next, learn to paint with Shannon Craig on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Cost: $75 each, includes all materials (and wine). Costumed or clothed life drawing, participating artists will need to bring their own tools, Feb. 18, 6:30 p.m., Origin Studio, 57 Lyndale Ave. Cost: $10, includes model fee and light refreshment. The Asinabka Film and Media Arts Festival is seeking submissions from independent filmmakers, film or video that tells First Nations, Métis or Inuit stories, or that focuses on international indigenous issues, before May 16 for the event running Aug. 10 to 14.
