Lace Up in Pink with CIBC this Valentine’s Day

-

Winterlude is about to get a whole lot rosier this Family Day weekend. Adding to the festival’s familiar scene of rosy cheeks, CIBC is inviting visitors to wear pink from head to skate at a special “CIBC Skate for the Cure” event on February 14 in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

“With 1 in 9 Canadian women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime, this is a cause that is very close to our hearts,” said Derek Mainville, District Vice-President, Ottawa East at CIBC, official sponsor of Ottawa’s annual Winterlude festival and presenting sponsor of the Rideau Canal Skateway. “We feel Valentine’s Day is a great time to raise awareness and show our love and support.”

Whether you’re skating or spectating, CIBC has something for everyone at Winterlude. In addition to the special Skate on February 14, the ever-popular sleigh rentals will also be available to enjoy free of charge February 13 to 15, compliments of CIBC.

And when you’re ready to warm up, stop by the fire pit at the CIBC Rest Area at Fifth Avenue to relax in Muskoka chairs and take in the entertainment. As a special treat, Team CIBC will be on-hand with surprise giveaways (hand warmers? Yes, please!).

“We’re inviting skaters and spectators alike to enjoy Winterlude like never before. CIBC’s rich history goes back as long as Canada’s, so it’s a natural fit for us to support this favourite national winter pastime on the iconic Rideau Canal Skateway,” adds Mainville.

The festivities are part of the bank’s ongoing work to create memorable experiences for Canadians and to showcase national pride leading up to 2017 — a special year that marks Canada’s and CIBC’s shared 150th birthday.

This year will also mark the bank’s 20th year as title sponsor of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure taking place on October 2, 2016. This national event brings Canadians together in more than 60 communities across the country to fundraise and help create a future without breast cancer.
