NASA CRAFT TO ORBIT JUPITER.

-

On Monday, Jupiter will welcome a remarkable visitor. After a five-year, 2.8-billion-kilometre voyage, NASA’s Juno will become only the second spacecraft to enter into orbit around the solar system’s biggest planet. Juno will approach to within 4,300 km, skimming Jupiter’s thick envelope of methane and ammonia cloud and searing in its crippling radiation. After 20 months gathering data about Jupiter’s composition, gravity and magnetic field, Juno will be redirected to a fiery death in the roiling atmosphere.
