Taxi industry, blame yourself for problems
Re: Coventry Connections outsources call-taking, blames city and Uber, June 23.
Hanif Patni’s finger-pointing suggestion that Ottawa’s new regulations have had a negative effect on the taxi industry is a deflection of responsibility. The taxi industry has allowed this by its own actions.
My personal experience with this company is far from stellar. Repeatedly I have encountered drivers that refuse to take a requested route or are rude and show little, if any, respect for basic rules of the road. It is the drivers’ repeated lack of courtesy that has “driven” me to find any other means of travel than using a taxi.
Using a service like Uber is also not on my “preferred list.” But perhaps if the taxi industry were to take a serious look at how it has contributed to this “poor state of affairs,” and worked to clean up its act, it might not have this kind of response. Ron Grossman, Ottawa
