After a satisfying week at his first professional development camp, Logan Brown is going home.

Which means he isn’t going anywhere.

While his fellow Senators prospects took off in all directions Monday, Brown, who was selected 11th overall by the Ottawa Senators in last month’s NHL Draft, doesn’t need to pack any bags.

His father, 67’s coach and general manager Jeff Brown, owns a place downtown. The family cottage is on Mississippi Lake.

“It couldn’t be a better situation, especially for summer training,” he said. “It will be perfect.”

When Brown works out at Canadian Tire Centre this summer, he’ll likely bump into a veteran Senators player or two.

“I will be able to train with some of the NHL guys and see how they live their everyday life, and really be able to use everything the Senators offer,” he said.

Workout-wise, there should be no surprises. Even before being drafted by the Senators, Brown had worked closely with Senators conditioning coach Chris Schwarz and player development coach Shean Donovan.

Brown says that knowing them helped make his adjustment to development camp easier.

“It just calmed the nerves a lot,” he said. “If I was going into a different NHL training camp, then I would be really nervous. I wouldn’t know any of the higher-up people. Being here, I felt like I had met every single person. So, it’s good to be familiar with everything. It helped me a lot, just being comfortable.”

The Senators’ first impressions of Brown were positive. Assistant general manager Randy Lee was impressed by Brown’s “vision” and his ability to control the pace of the game, in order to make a play.

“You just want to show your character and show what kind of work ethic you have,” Brown said. “It’s kind of a get-to-know-you week for them. Coming in, you just want to make a good impression, and I hope I did.” Arbitration for Hoffman: Senators restricted free agent left-winger Mike Hoffman has until Tuesday to file for salary arbitration, in an effort to get a new deal signed with the Senators. If Hoffman doesn’t file, the Senators can opt for salary arbitration on Wednesday. Hoffman went to arbitration last summer and was awarded $2 million on a one-year deal ... The Senators ECHL franchise is moving to Wichita, Kansas, for the 2016-17 season. The Senators were previously affiliated with the Evansville (Indiana) Icemen.
