Ikea’s 2017 catalogue features items sure to become favourites

Ikea is touting a “more relaxed life” in its 2017 catalogue, a 326-page dream book that was just made available by mail and will be in stores and online Aug. 15.

Every year, the massive retailer of affordable furniture taps into whatever’s being pinned and Instagrammed and snapped out there, from rustic kitchens to playful pillows inspired by traditional folk motifs.

After previewing the collection, the following six items stood out as the most personally appealing:

KVISTBRO STORAGE TABLE ($69)

If you like the look of mesh storage baskets to organize your home, you’ll be charmed by this sofa table with a wire base that can be used to display and store throws, toys, bedding or books. A handle in the top makes it easy to lift the lid off. Available in turquoise or white.

A table that is also a tray; a tray that’s also a table. I can think of many uses for this flexible metal design. Available in pale-yellow or sage-green powder-coated steel, it has a removable tray perfect for tea parties, cocktails or sushi nights.

All the Marie Kondo-inspired talk of editing one’s items and honouring those that you do keep makes this glass and steel display box appealing. Treasures or collections can be rotated in and out of display. It elevates whatever is placed in there.

A little clamp-on steel lamp with a lot of style can be a great addition to a bed. The dimmable LED light bulb makes it perfect for reading or mood lighting. Available in white, silver or brass.
