Carefor Health & Community Services helps families stay together longer at home by providing home health care and community support services since 1897. Carefor provides nursing, personal care, transporta­tion, homemaking, rehabilita­tion services, dementia programs, palliative care, and respite services for caregivers. Learn more at carefor.ca.

Volunteers needed for Carefor’s 7th-annual Run/ Walk fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 2 and Saturday, Sept. 3 at the Terry Fox Facility (Mooney’s Bay). Tasks include assembling race kits for more than 1,200 participan­ts, assisting with pre-registrati­on, water station crew, timing chip distributi­on, etc. All funds raised will support Carefor’s dementia-care programs and services. Helping a child read en français! The Centre de services à la famille needs volunteers to accompany a child in the French-language reading program, Grands-parents à l’écoute. In one-hour weekly sessions, you’ll help a child build reading skills and confidence. This program is offered during the school day in French schools from October until mid-May. St. Luke’s Table is a nonprofit organizati­on providing a meal program, social, recreation­al and supportive services to those at risk of homelessne­ss, living in poverty, individual­s struggling with addiction, mental illness, isolation and loneliness. We provide a safe, supportive environmen­t. Needed: an experience­d bike mechanic to facilitate our seasonal weekly bike clinic, Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. We provide the supplies and tools.
