Detours were still in place late Friday afternoon after a 39-year-old Arnprior woman was killed in a six-vehicle crash amid heavy early morning fog on Highway 17.

She was pronounced dead at the scene while a 38-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Renfrew, were taken to hospital with injuries that weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Five passenger vehicles and a commercial truck were involved in the 4:30 a.m. collision on Calabogie Road in McNab-Braeside Township.

Renfrew OPP said Highway 17 between Calabogie Road and Campbell Drive would remain closed into the evening as officers and investigators probe the cause of the pileup.

The identity of the victim was not being released pending notification of next of kin and a postmortem.

Meanwhile, drivers took to social media to share updates on reported bumper-to-bumper long-weekend traffic.
