Church not helping itself with edict
The Catholic Church’s decision to deny funeral rites to those terminally ill patients who have chosen to end their suffering with the aid of a doctor sadly illustrates a total lack of compassion and understanding for these people and their families.
As far as I am concerned, it is one more nail in the coffin of an outdated and irrelevant organization that values rules and dogma more than the people it purports to serve and care for.
I have switched my municipal tax support from the separate school board to the public board.
I hope other disenchanted Roman Catholics will consider doing the same. Lucian Blair, Ottawa
