GEE-GEES TAME LIONS
The Ottawa Gee-Gees bounced back from a tough Panda Game loss to beat the York Lions 54-20 Friday night at Gee-Gees Field.
The Gee-Gees, now 5-1 in a tight OUA race, led 26-13 at halftime, with touchdowns from quarterback Derek Wendel (one-yard run, set up by a great 20-yard catch by Nick Dagher), Mitchell Baines (49-yard catch) and Greg Cherniak (five-yard run). Lewis Ward booted a 37-yard field goal and York conceded a safety.
The Lions got two field goals and a seven-yard touchdown catch by Adam Adeboboye.
The Gee-Gees made it 33-13 on a Cherniak one-yard run after a 50yard catch by Baines. York got a TD by Colton Hunchak. Ottawa made it 40-20 with Baines, after a 35-yard reception, scoring from 16 yards out.
Then after a 37-yard catch by Donald Shaw, Thomas Hoyt caught a 28-yard TD pass. Mathieu Tremblay added a 14-yard rushing major.
The Gee-Gees will get a tough test next Saturday with the powerful Western Mustangs in town.
