A serenade in the sky
Passengers travelling from Sydney to Singapore got an earful at 12,000 metres — from the Australian World Orchestra. Lucky passengers on the Qantas flight were serenaded with Ravel’s famous composition Bolero on instruments including a French horn, cello, flute, trumpets and snare drum. Nine musicians from the orchestra, which brings together the best classical musicians from around the world, played a four-minute popup concert that drew rousing cheers from the nearly 300 passengers and crew, the Australian Associated Press reported. The Qantas flight carried nearly 100 instruments, including a number of cellos that occupied their own seats.
