Baird delivered on hospital’s request

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth 1,000 words. On page A2 Saturday, there stands Ottawa Centre MP Catherine McKenna, surrounded by unhappy-looking Liberal colleagues. In her self-ascribed role as one who knows best for all of Ottawa, and who started this mess in the first place, she now rewrites history before our very eyes.

Let’s get our facts straight. Former Conservative MP John Baird did not recommend that the new Ottawa Hospital site be located on Central Experimental Farm land across Carling Avenue from the Civic campus. The Ottawa Hospital and its board of directors did. They contacted Baird, asking for help in facilitating their plans. After a considerable amount of time and hard work, and with the ongoing support of The Ottawa Hospital and other community leaders, Baird delivered on THEIR request.
