Minto’s Mahogany in Manotick offers stylish homes for families at any stage

- S. EVELYN CIMESA

Tucked away in the village of Manotick, just five minutes south of Barrhaven, lies a lovely community crafted for families who want city conveniences nearby with the peace and tranquility of the countryside.

Mahogany by Minto Communities embraces quiet streetscapes, green spaces and wetland areas to provide an opportunity for families to explore the countryside. Follow Mahogany Creek, which meanders through the community and joins the Rideau River at Mahogany Bay. Relax in the parkland surrounding Mahogany Pond, which has been preserved in its natural state to protect the pond’s health and local wildlife.

The community also features indigenous species of mature trees which were maintained and incorporated into Mahogany’s green spaces and parks — you’ll find a large bur oak, estimated to be more than a hundred years old. And, if you take a stroll along Bridgeport Avenue, you’ll find Farmer’s Hedgerow, a historic stand of white spruce, white cedar and red pine that provides a natural habitat for birds and other critters.

Each home’s design features open floor plans and contemporary exteriors that incorporate both style and functionality while keeping the historic architecture of Manotick in mind. Every Mahogany home includes 9-foot smooth ceilings, hardwood flooring on the main level, granite countertops in the kitchen and an impressive fireplace in the great room. Potential home buyers can also visit the onsite design centre and speak with the resident design consultant to help find a home that fits their family’s needs.

And, last Saturday, Minto continued to address homebuyers’ needs by unveiling three new designer decorated homes in Mahogany, from its collections of homes that fit on 47-foot and 60-foot lots: the Butternut, the Heartwood and the Elderberry. These designs were launched in April 2016 and have received an overwhelmingly positive response from homebuyers.

“We are excited to open these brand new show homes, from our new collections of homes designs that are exclusive to Mahogany,” says Brent Strachan, senior vicepresident of Minto Communities.

Many individuals want to embrace the rural small town charm that Manotick offers, but want to scope out new properties to find the one that feels like home. These show homes give homebuyers the chance to explore and get a sense of each home’s design to find the one that’s perfect for their family.

THE SHOW HOMES

Empty nesters looking to downsize might fall in love with the Butternut, a 1,525 sq. ft. bungalow situated on a 47-foot lot. Done up in a palette of charcoal, olive and pale pink blush, this traditional yet contemporary home features two bedrooms plus den and a spacious finished basement with an additional bedroom and guest bathroom. An open concept kitchen, dining room and great room with large windows and a fireplace are at the heart of this home.

Growing families may fall for the Heartwood, a 2,501 sq. ft. twostorey home built on a 47-foot lot. Featuring four bedrooms, twoand-a-half bathrooms and a main floor den, this home has plenty of space to suit the needs of parents and children and accommodates a busy lifestyle. This home is equipped with a formal dining room for entertaining, a huge master bedroom with ample closet space and a four-piece ensuite, a mudroom for outerwear, school bags and sports equipment and so much more.

Those with a full house will appreciate the Elderberry, a 3,021 sq. ft., two-storey home built on a 60-foot lot.

Bearing a deep and rich autumnal colour scheme of chocolate, muted golds and black, this gorgeous home features a curved staircase leading up to the focal point of the home: the great room fireplace, finished floor to ceiling with porcelain tile influenced by a light calacatta marble. Marvel at this home’s distressed cabinetry, get some quality time with a book in the private study or push open the double-door entrance to the master bedroom and feel like royalty.

AFFORDABLE HOMES COLLECTION

Last Saturday, Minto also brought a new lot release to Mahogany, with more 47-foot and 60-foot lots available. The local builder also unveiled a new series of more affordable single family homes — its 38-foot lot collection. This series features six new home designs varying in size from the Brierwood, at 2,108 sq. ft., to the Sugarplum, at 2,493 sq. ft.

“We’ve brought fresh, contemporary designs to Manotick, at prices that will be attractive for families,” says Strachan.
