Before you head out to enjoy your long Victoria Day weekend, here’s what’s open and closed.

Shopping, groceries and alcohol

The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile Bayshore, Place d’Orléans, St. Laurent and Carlingwoo­d are closed. Vendors in the ByWard Market will also be open for the holiday.

The Metro stores on Walkley Road, Bank Street and Beechwood Avenue are all closed for Victoria Day.

The Sobeys downtown and the Kanata location are also closed.

Produce Depot on Carling Avenue will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Grocery store hours and availabili­ty vary by location, check with your local grocery store to confirm.

The Beer Store and the LCBO are closed.

Transit and parking

OC Transpo will operate on Victoria Day, but on a Sunday schedule. On the holiday, families and groups can purchase a day pass for $10.25 to travel all day. Groups eligible for the pass can include up to six people with maximum two who are 13 and older.

City parking regulation­s and restrictio­ns will apply.

Garbage pickup

Curbside pickup has been moved to Tuesday. Green bin, recycling materials and garbage collection will be delayed by one day for the week. In addition, there will be no multiresid­ential collection of bulky items or green and recycling container collection on the holiday. Instead pickup will take place on Tuesday. Recycling container and green bin collection will also be delayed by one day.

Multi-residentia­l garbage container collection is not delayed. Collection will take place on its regularly scheduled day during the week of May 22.

The Trail Waste Facility will be closed.

Recreation and services

Many pools, fitness centres and arenas will be open on Victoria Day with modified hours of operation. Check ottawa.ca for more informatio­n. However, registered programs at community centres, swimming pools and arenas are closed for the holiday.

The city advises residents to stay off the beaches this holiday because of continued health concerns and other problems following the recent flooding. Boaters should also be aware of winter debris, including branches and constructi­on materials floating around.

City hall, childcare centres, the city’s Provincial Offences Court and all Ottawa Public Library services are closed and will resume on Tuesday.

The Sexual Health Centre and the Ottawa Public Health Informatio­n Line will be closed. However, residents can still call the public health informatio­n line and leave a message.

Galleries and museums

The Karsh-Masson Gallery, the Ontario Art Gallery at city hall and the Barbara Ann Scott Gallery will be open.

Other arts centres, archives, theatres and museums will be closed on Monday. Check ottawa.ca to confirm availabili­ty, some exceptions may apply.

The National Gallery, the Canadian War Museum, the Canadian History Museum, the Canada Agricultur­e Museum, the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Canada Aviation and Space Museum are open on Victoria Day.

The Nepean Museum and the Canadian Science and Technology Museum will be closed. The Bank of Canada Museum is closed for renovation­s.

Fireworks

It’s the Tulipmania Fireworks at TD Place at Lansdowne on Sunday, May 21. Admission is $20 and kids 12 and under are free. The event runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with fireworks at 9. p.m.
