SENS’ HOPES ON THE LINE

Pressure’s on in Game 6

-

Like everybody else around the NHL, Eugene Melnyk is mystified.

The Senators are only two wins away from a trip to the Stanley Cup final, but as they prepare for Game 6 of the Eastern Conference final against the Penguins, Canadian Tire Centre isn’t completely sold out.

As the final hours ticked toward the 8 p.m. faceoff between the Senators and Penguins with Pittsburgh leading the series 3-2, Melnyk’s club was still trying to move a large inventory of seats. The Senators’ website indicated a lot of seats in the upper decks were still available.

Nobody was certain exactly how many seats remained, but as of Monday night, it would be fair to say the game wasn’t close to a sellout.

“It’s very disturbing, however, knowing the players and coaches, they will be trying their hardest for Ottawa,” Melnyk said.
