Debaters, Roseanne coming to Centrepointe
Performances by rock legend Graham Nash, Canadian icon Tom Cochrane and superstar comedian Roseanne Barr are among the highlights of the 2017-18 season at Centrepointe Theatres.
Nash will preside over an evening of songs and stories on Oct. 2, Cochrane brings his Red Rider bandmates on March 22, and Barr makes a stop at the Nepean theatre on April 20 as part of her plan to return to the spotlight next year.
In all, more than 20 concerts and performances are part of the coming season, with a new series of shows in the theatre’s intimate 199-seat studio space. The studio program includes Canto Sentimento Strings, the Great Grey Jazz Band, Ottawa’s Duelling Pianos and more.
The 954-seat mainstage theatre will host everything from comedy to opera. Opera singers Julie Nesrallah, Gary Relyea and Richard Margison share the stage on Feb. 1, while comedy offerings include two nights with The Debaters on Feb. 6 and 7, and the Just For Laughs Roadshow on April 6.
Other season highlights include country star Gord Bamford on Jan. 25, the coal miners’ chorus Men of the Deeps on Dec. 5 and Ireland’s popular dance company Rhythm of the Dance on March 21.
Children’s entertainment is also on the calendar, featuring the inventive musical comedy of Manitoba’s Juno-winning performer Al Simmons on Jan. 6, Tall Stories’ production of The Gruffalo: Live on Stage on Feb. 3, and a Halloween Spooktacular with Ottawa’s Yaki on Oct. 28.
