Raptors GM Weltman leaving for Orlando

Masai Ujiri is losing his righthand man. Toronto Raptors general manager Jeff Weltman is reportedly taking on the role of president of basketball operations with the Orlando Magic. In Toronto, Weltman and Ujiri operated as a team with Ujiri having the final say. In Orlando, Weltman will report to CEO Alex Martins, but the basketball decisions will be his. Weltman was Ujiri’s first hire when he returned to Toronto to take over as president and GM. He passed the second title to Weltman before the start of last season. Another longtime Ujiri confidant, Bobby Webster, is expected to jump from assistant GM to fill Weltman’s role.
