Rookie Munoz leads by three at Greenbrier

Sebastian Munoz shot a 3-under 67 Friday to lead Ben Martin and Hudson Swafford by three strokes after the second round of the Greenbrier Classic.

Munoz, a 24-year-old Colombian, continued his solid play after an opening-round 61. He heads into the weekend at 12-under 128 and leads after 36 holes for the second time in his rookie PGA Tour season. He shared the lead halfway through the St. Jude Classic, but played the final two rounds in 11-over-par.

No first-round leader has won at Old White TPC since the tournament debuted in 2010.

Martin shot 67 on Friday and Swafford had a 66. Both were at 9-under.

Davis Love III, seeking to become the oldest winner on the PGA Tour, followed up his first-round 63 with a 69. He was at 8-under, along with defending champion Danny Lee (68) and Russell Henley (64). Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. was another shot back at 7-under after a 69, while Graham DeLaet (70) of Weyburn, Sask., and David Hearn (69) of Brantford, Ont. are at 6-under. Sitting at 4-under is Mackenzie Hughes (67), of Dundas, Ont.

At Oneida, Wis., Katherine Kirk shot a career-best 9-under 63 to take a three-stroke lead in the weather-delayed second round of the inaugural Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic.

The 35-year-old Australian was at 13-under through two rounds.

Jaye Marie Green birdied eight of her final 12 holes to shoot 66 and was three shots back. Sandra Gal was also 10-under through 13 holes before play was suspended because of darkness.

Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Ont., who also did not finish her second round, was the top Canadian, sitting at 6-under. Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont, who carded a 67 on Friday, is at 5-under along with Samantha Richdale (70) of Kelowna, B.C. Augusta James (69) of Bath, Ont., is at 4-under.
