‘Troll’s penis’ will rise again: donors

A phallic-shaped rock formation earmarked to become a tourist hiking destination has fallen victim to apparent vandals in Norway. The Trollpikken — or Troll’s Penis — in Rogaland county, southwestern Norway, was found shorn off and lying at the base of the rock face from which it had protruded, The Local website reported. Now Norwegians have raised nearly 20,000 euros ($29,500) to help put the attentiongrabbing protrusion back in its place after a local entrepreneur launched an online fundraising campaign. Almost 1,000 donors have responded to the crowdfunding appeal, titled The Troll’s Penis Will Be Re-Erected. “We do not accept vandalism,” reads a message on the page. “The re-erection WILL happen.” Media images show traces of drilling on the geological formation, and police have reportedly launched an investigation.
