Back to the 1950s for TAP airline
Portugal’s TAP airline is rolling back the clock to the 1950s as it expands capacity and launches new routes, including a link between the Portuguese capital Lisbon and Toronto. The carrier’s latest aircraft, an A330, is sporting the original Transportes Aéreos Portugueses livery in the same colours that were first displayed on its planes in 1955. The jet, to be named Portugal, is part of a TAP series to celebrate the historical links between the airline and the people of the country, a spokesman said. The Portugal will operate on long-haul flights to North and South America, as well as Africa. TAP, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2015, has plans to add 53 new aircraft.
