- PAULA MCCOOEY pmccooey@postmedia.com

The Westboro Fuse street festival returns this year with a wide variety of family-friendly activities over two days, Aug. 26 and 27.

Richmond Road will be lined with DJs, food stands, music, games and a zip line and super slide. There will be road closures between McRae and Churchill avenues and Roosevelt and Golden avenues, with businesses, restaurants and bars open to the public and in some cases offering festival specials.

The Real Canadian Superstore parking lot at Kirkwood Avenue and Richmond Road will be transformed into a giant family-friendly fun zone with a barbecue.

Produced in collaboration with the Westboro Village BIA, the festival will kick off with two free events on Aug. 26: the Bushtukah one-kilometre Tot Trot at 10 a.m. and the Family Fun Relay at 10:30 a.m.

The Piggy Market will have an artisanal-themed zone with a pig roast and local craft beer on Aug. 27. Other events include a culinary competition and artists displaying their works.

There will be DJs spinning vinyl, tribal drummers on rooftop cafés, and guitarists playing on the festival route.

David’s Tea will serve cotton candy and birthday cake ice tea, and a photo booth supplied by West End kids and The Village Quire will capture the day’s fun. For more information, visit westborovillage.com
