Ottawa teen charged in January assault

-

An Ottawa teen was arrested and charged Friday, six months after police made an initial call-out to the public to help identify a “person of interest” in a Centretown assault.

On Jan. 10 around 12:30 a.m., Ottawa police said an aggravated assault took place in the 400 block of MacLaren Street, between Bank and Kent streets.

In February, investigators asked the public to help ID a male “person of interest” who was captured on video in the area.

Police said Friday they had confirmed the identity of the man in the alleged assault.

Abdirahman Ali-Farah, 19, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery with violence, forcible confinement and several other offences.

During the investigation, another Ottawa man, Hakim Houssein, 24, was charged in May with aggravated assault, sexual assault, robbery with violence and several other counts.
