Streets, bridges, paths close for fireworks festival’s grand finale

Casino du Lac Leamy’s Sound of Light fireworks festival puts on its grand finale finish Saturday night.

A number of streets in Gatineau’s Hull sector will be closed in the evening, and the Alexandra Bridge will be also closed to cars and pedestrian­s.

The road closings from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. are:

Laurier Street, between Maisonneuv­e ■ and Sacré-Coeur boulevards

Victoria Street, between NotreDame-de-l’Île ■ and Laurier streets

Papineau Street, between NotreDame-de-l’Île ■ and Laurier streets

Élisabeth-Bruyère Street, ■ between Notre-Dame-de-l’Île and Laurier streets

Boulevard des Allumettiè­res, ■ between Maisonneuv­e Boulevard and Laurier Street

Saint-Étienne Street, between ■ Notre-Dame-de-l’Île and Laurier streets

Verdun Street, between NotreDame-de-l’Île ■ and Laurier streets

Notre-Dame-de-l’Île Street, ■ between Élisabeth-Bruyère Street and des Allumettiè­res Boulevard

Champlain Street, between Élisabeth-Bruyère Street and des Allumettiè­res Boulevard

l’Hôtel-de-Ville Street, between Laurier Street and la promenade du Portage

Alexandra Bridge will be closed to pedestrian­s between 8:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Alexandra Bridge will be closed to cars between 8:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, Ottawa River pathways will be closed from 7-10 p.m. between the Alexandra Bridge and the Ottawa locks (via Pioneer Road, under Major’s Hill Park).

In Gatineau, the Voyageurs recreation­al trail between Victoria Street and the Alexandra Bridge (behind the Canadian Museum of History) will be closed from 6-10 p.m.

Boaters are advised that the Ottawa River will be closed off between Alexandra and Portages bridges will be will be closed from 5-10:15 p.m.

Six lighted yellow warning buoys will set out the 60-metre boundary perimeter.

No vessels will be allowed upstream of the Alexandra Bridge. Informatio­n buoys will also be installed to mark the no-crossing zone.
