Three local restaurants on list of Canada’s top 100

Three fine-dining establishments in the Ottawa area — Atelier on Rochester Street, Carben on Wellington Street West and Le Baccara in the Casino du Lac Leamy in Gatineau — have been included on OpenTable’s 2017 list of Canada’s 100 best restaurants.

The exclusive list was released on Wednesday.

In terms of representing Ottawa’s restaurant scene, the recognition is a notable step up from last year. No Ottawa-area restaurants made the 2016 edition of the list, compiled annually by the international online restaurant reservation service.

The list doesn’t rank the 100 restaurants, instead choosing to list them alphabetically.

The 2017 list was compiled from the combined opinions of more than 500,000 restaurant reviews, submitted by verified OpenTable diners, of more than 2,000 Canadian restaurants that use the OpenTable service.

Across Canada, the list found for the second year in a row that Italian restaurants are most popular among OpenTable diners. French and Canadian cuisine placed second and third, respectively.
