Cut off the alcohol if MPs are sleazy
Labour Minister Patty Hajdu recently declared a crisis in her own workplace, making reference to older, powerful men who socialize with younger, precariously employed staffers — with “liberal access to alcohol.” Presumably in part she is referring to the consumption of alcoholic beverages on Parliament Hill proper.
Here is an idea. If some MPs can’t be trusted to behave civilly when having a few drinks on the Hill, serve nothing stronger than tea or coffee.
I am sure that such a suggestion would be met with howls of protest but might cause those who are not part of the problem to start keeping a closer eye on those who are.
