Stop bashing the police

Ottawa Citizen - - OPINION -

Re: The ‘de-policing’ of Ottawa? Feb. 12.

This is a natural result of everybody jumping on the police-bashing bandwagon every time somebody gets hurt. It’s time we took a hard look at what we expect from police and how we treat them in return. The first priority is the safety of the public, second is the safety of the police; the well-being and rights of the perpetrator are a distant third.

Let us stop whining about things like the use of tough leather gloves to protect the knuckles of the police. If you fight with the police, I sincerely hope you lose. Otherwise, our society is in trouble. Ted Houghton, Nepean
