Canada sent 202 ath­letes to the 2010 Van­cou­ver Olympics, who did the coun­try proud by cap­tur­ing 26 medals, in­clud­ing 14 gold. Alexan­dre Bilodeau pro­duced the first gold by win­ning the men’s moguls, while Maelle Ricker, pic­tured, be­came the first Canadian woman to win gold in snow­board­ing, in the snow­board cross event. Pairs skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir be­came the first and youngest Canadian win­ners in a sport nor­mally dom­i­nated by Euro­peans. Ashleigh McIvor won in freestyle ski­cross. Both men’s and women’s hockey teams cap­tured the gold, both against the U.S.
