Evans could be on the move
Defensive lineman Zack Evans doesn’t want to leave Ottawa.
But because of the business side of the Canadian Football League, Evans, a starter who played with the Redblacks for their first four seasons, may have a new address sometime after noon on Tuesday when free agency begins.
“It’s crazy,” Evans said Monday. “It’s a scary thing not knowing your future. I was in Saskatchewan, I thought I’d retire there, but then I got picked by Ottawa in the expansion draft. I was given a tremendous opportunity to play for a new team, redefine myself and became what I am today. I’m so thankful (to the Redblacks), I thought I’d retire here, too.”
Is there a chance he could still return to the Redblacks?
“There’s always a chance,” said Evans. “You never know. Obviously there are so many moving parts in free agency. I’m trying to not freak out and take it as it comes.”
