The Ottawa Senators added some more depth on Friday.

The Senators announced the signing of forward Chase Balisy to a one-year, two-way contract that’s worth US$650,000 in the NHL and $135,000 if he plays for the club’s American Hockey League affiliate in Belleville.

Balisy, 26, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the sixth round of the 2011 National Hockey League draft. He spent last season in the Florida Panthers organization, counting 14 goals and 21 assists in 67 games with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons.

He failed to register a point in eight games with the Panthers.

Balisy has also spent parts of his pro career with the AHL’s St. John IceCaps and Portland Pirates.
