HGTV to air new series full of renovation ideas
Hidden Potential, Rustic Rehab slated for late-August premieres
New season, new HGTV shows. The specialty network has announced two series that will debut at the end of August — Hidden Potential and Rustic Rehab.
The first one features builder and designer Jasmine Roth, who owns the California-based company Built Custom Homes. In each episode, Roth infuses cookie-cutter suburban homes with unique charm that will set them apart in the market.
“I first got into homebuilding kind of on accident,” she told House Beautiful, explaining that she decided to build two homes — one for her and one to sell for profit — after graduating from university. Before that, her experience in the housing industry comprised working in real estate to fund her education, reupholstering furniture and helping friends revamp their patios and living rooms. Hidden Potential debuts Aug. 30. In Rustic Rehab, real estate experts Chenoa and David Rivera are full-time parents and houseflippers. Based in Paradise, Calif., they push to renovate hidden gems and put them back on the market in record time — without breaking the bank and staying on budget.
What sets the show apart from HGTV’s other house-flipping shows? The Riveras primarily concentrate on vacation properties.
“Many (Paradise) homeowners have main homes in the Bay Area, and it’s a source for lots of vacation rentals,” David told the Los Angeles Times. “Also, people in Napa and Sacramento have second homes here.”
Rustic Rehab debuts Aug. 29.
