What’s open and closed on Re­mem­brance Day

With Re­mem­brance Day fall­ing on a Sun­day this year, the city will ob­serve the hol­i­day on Mon­day, af­fect­ing some city ser­vices with sched­ule changes and road clo­sures.

City hall and all seven of its ser­vice cen­tres will be closed, and pro­vin­cial of­fences court at Con­stel­la­tion Cres­cent will be closed Mon­day in ob­ser­vance of Re­mem­brance Day. Busi­ness will re­sume as usual on Tues­day, Nov. 13, city of­fi­cials said, and the city’s 311 line will be open for ur­gent mat­ters.

In recog­ni­tion of the sig­nif­i­cance of Re­mem­brance Day and in ac­cor­dance with city by­law, most re­tail busi­nesses are re­quired to close un­til 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.

There will be no sched­uled changes for garbage col­lec­tion, and curb­side con­tain­ers will be col­lected on Mon­day, Nov. 12. The Trail Road waste fa­cil­ity will be open and fol­low reg­u­lar busi­ness hours.

All City of Ot­tawa park­ing reg­u­la­tions and re­stric­tions will ap­ply.

OC Transpo will fol­low a reg­u­lar Sun­day sched­ule on Nov. 11 and reg­u­lar week­day sched­ule on Mon­day. War vet­er­ans who wear their medals and/or uni­forms can ride free on OC Transpo, Para Transpo and STO ser­vices dur­ing Na­tional Vet­er­ans’ Week, from Nov. 5 to 11, and com­pan­ions ac­com­pa­ny­ing vet­er­ans also ride free of charge.

The Rideau Cen­tre OC Transpo cus­tomer ser­vice cen­tre will be open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., but cus­tomer ser­vice cen­tres at Lin­coln Fields Cen­tre, Place d’Or­léans and St.-Lau­rent Cen­tre will be closed.

In­door pools and fit­ness cen­tres will be open with mod­i­fied sched­ules at ot­tawa.ca, while most reg­is­tered pro­grams at com­mu­nity cen­tres

and are­nas will be can­celled. Some ex­cep­tions will ap­ply.

Ot­tawa Pub­lic Health sex­ual health clin­ics and satel­lite clin­ics will be closed on Mon­day. The Site pro­gram of­fice at 179 Clarence St. will be open as usual from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Karsh-Mas­son Gallery, City Hall Art Gallery and Bar­bara Ann Scott Gallery at city hall will be open. All other City of Ot­tawa arts cen­tres, gal­leries, the­atres and mu­se­ums will be closed. The City of Ot­tawa Ar­chives Ref­er­ence Ser­vices and Gallery 112 will be closed. All mu­nic­i­pal child-care cen­tres will be closed. All branches and ser­vices of the Ot­tawa Pub­lic Li­brary will be closed.
