Longtime customers were saddened by the passing of founder Brian Mallett a year ago. They had come to trust and appreciate his commitment to high-quality work, his desire to build relationships, and his unwavering focus on giving his customers peace of mind — core values being carried on today by his son Adam, the second Mallett to lead the company as president. “It was nice to be able to tell my dad before he passed that this is what I wanted to do, and to see how proud he was that I was going to continue his legacy,” Mallett said. “I want to continue to build on the relationships he developed, and let people know that Westend Bath and Kitchen is still the same company my dad started.” Mallett joined his father in the family business 15 years ago, starting in shipping/receiving before moving on to sales and later accounting as he became more experienced. He understands every aspect of the business, and relies on the dedicated support he receives from two key members of his team — store manager Alan Carriere who has been with Westend almost from the start, and design supervisor Valerie Laba who oversees the company’s design team. Both Laba and Carriere manage operations by working closely with 10-year-veteran shipping/ receiving coordinator Kevin Gould to ensure that every project is delivered on time and on budget to the customers’ satisfaction. “We are a full team here,” Mallett said. “We also have our contractors — all these people that my dad brought into the company who are so loyal and caring about the company, and who want to succeed just as much as I do. They know how to talk to our designers to understand exactly what has to be done for each renovation. I truly feel that we are a family here.” All of Westend’s installers, electricians and plumbers are licensed and insured, and Westend ensures a safe workplace for its teams. Nothing is left to chance when it comes to delivering the highest standards with a new, three-year full warranty on all labour performed.
