What’s open and closed on Family Day

Monday will mark Family Day in Ontario with many stores, city services and attraction­s in the National Capital Region either closed or operating on reduced schedules.

SHOPPING

Major shopping centres like Tanger Outlets, Bayshore, Carlingwoo­d, Place d’Orléans and St. Laurent will be closed Monday, though the Rideau Centre will remain open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Most grocery stores will be closed, as will all Beer Store and LCBO locations.

Select Wine Rack locations will remain open.

Loblaws on Rideau Street will stay open 24 hours, and the Isabella Street Loblaws will be open until 8 p.m. Metro stores on Rideau Street and Bank Street will also be open.

Banks will be closed.

MUSEUMS, GALLERIES & LIBRARIES

All Ottawa Public Library branches will be closed Monday.

Cultural and historical sites such as Pinhey’s Point, the Billings Estate and the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum will be closed.

Many major museums within the city will be open, however, with some operating on reduced hours.

The Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau and the National Gallery of Canada will all be open.

The Canada Agricultur­e and Food Museum will be open, as will the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum, which is normally closed on Mondays, but will be open for Family Day.

The Ottawa Art Gallery and city-run art galleries will be open.

CITY SERVICES

OC Transpo will be operating on a Sunday schedule and customer service kiosks will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lincoln Fields, Place d’Orléans and St-Laurent.

The Rideau Centre customer service centre will remain open until 6 p.m.

City-run pools and fitness centres will operate on reduced schedules, and the City’s 3-1-1 line will be operating for urgent matters.

City hall will be closed, as will all seven service centres and the Provincial Offences Court at 100 Constellat­ion Dr.

Garbage, green bins and recycling will not be picked up on Family Day. Curbside collection will be pushed back one day through the week.

All city-run childcare centres will be closed.

All parking restrictio­ns will remain in place on Ottawa streets, though there will be free parking at city hall.

Family Day also marks the final day of Winterlude, with a number of activities planned at various sites.
