MCCLURE, Kathryn Hope

-

(née Skinner) August 28, 1924 February 11, 2019 Kathryn lived her life with optimism, gratitude and a deep appreciation of the splendour of nature. She was adored by her husband, Bill McClure, who predeceased her in 2013, and cherished by her children Karen (Stan Kacmarik), Alison Cumminger (Ervin), Ann Noonan (Steve) and Blair (Nancy); grandchildren Alicia, Laura, Darcy, Alex, Paige, Olivia, Austin and Katarina and great-grandchildren James and Isla. Kathryn was born in River Hebert, Nova Scotia and was a veteran of WWII and Korea. She held a BA from Mount Allison University and an MSW from the University of Toronto. Kathryn was a founding member of her study group and book club, in which she participated for over 55 years. Kathryn loved her house in the woods near Manotick, where she and Bill raised their family and operated Kipewa Kennels and the Sportsman’s Cabinet book store. She especially treasured her wildflowers, birds, fall leaves and making maple syrup with her family. We would like to thank the staff of the Civic Hospital, the Multi-Care Kidney Clinic and Dr. Cathy Williams for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on March 23, 2019 at Century Events, 1981 Century Road West, North Gower. The family will receive guests beginning at 1:30 and a reception with refreshments will follow the service. In memory of Kathryn, donations to The Ottawa Mission, the Salvation Army or The Nature Conservancy of Canada would be appreciated. Tributes, donations and condolences may be made at:
