Be patient with your transit system
Re: 40 buses returning to service as mayor says he’s ‘furious’ with poor LRT performance, Nov. 2.
I had the pleasure of visiting Ottawa this past weekend on a weekend excursion and read about the troubles with the implementation of the Confederation Line. I experienced none of the issues that have been reported on.
I waited no more than three minutes for any train on several trips over the course of the weekend. Trains and stations are immaculate and a real pleasure to ride.
As I reside in an area that heavily relies on and appreciates the need for public transit as a necessity for access and affordability, I would like to encourage my friends in the Ottawa area to be patient with the growing pains of a new system. I do know that doors are really fickle on transit systems so it’s best not to fool with them.
I’ve lived in areas that have been stubbornly resistant to developing public transit options, so the fact that you have taken this step shows a real commitment to promoting regional access and affordability and I commend you for it. I’ll be cheering you on. David R. Smedley, South Orange, N.J.
