TFC WORTH $395M, FORBES SAYS

-

Toronto FC is the fifth most valuable team in Major League Soccer. According to Forbes magazine, the club is worth US$395 million behind only Atlanta United ($500 million), L.A. Galaxy ($480 million), LAFC ($475 million) and Seattle ($405 million). TFC’s value is more than the worth of four NHL clubs, including the Buffalo Sabres ($375 million). The two other Canadian MLS franchises — Vancouver ($215 million) and Montreal ($210 million) — are ranked 21st and 22nd respectively in the 24team league. Expansion fees are also on the rise. Investors in new MLS franchises in Cincinnati and Nashville agreed to pay $150 million to join the league, while planned teams in St. Louis and Sacramento will each pay a $200-million expansion fee. According to Forbes, the expansion fees will sell for more than $300 million after that.
