Traffic stop turns up loaded handgun
Police seized a loaded handgun Thursday night in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation at Beausoleil Drive and York Street in Lowertown.
Police said the officers from the guns and gangs unit’s PIVOT squad stopped the vehicle at about 7:40 p.m. One of the occupants was arrested immediately and two others were arrested after the search turned up the weapon. The three men, aged 21, 20 and 26, were jointly charged with a number of weapons offences, as well as drug possession and possession of property obtained by crime.
The 26-year-old faces an additional charge of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
All three men were scheduled to appear in court Friday.
