Let suburban buses go all the way downtown
Ottawa’s LRT, the (N)O-Train, has been overhyped by the city, with unrealistic expectations and some predictable results.
The city has forced all downtown public transit commuters to be funnelled through to rail. Overcrowding and bus connection issues at either end of the line could have been mitigated with more realistic goal-setting.
Forcing commuters off the buses and onto rail at Tunney’s Pasture and Blair stations creates choke points. If buses from destinations farther out from the rail line were allowed to continue downtown non-stop until LRT phase 2 stations begin service, we might not be facing the insanity we hear reported daily.
