Sens seem to have an actual plan

-

Last year I wrote a highly critical letter about the Ottawa Senators. Since then, the Senators have mapped out a plan forward. They signed Thomas Chabot long-term and every indication is that they will sign other emerging stars longterm. I have bought a part-season’s ticket again and plan to do so again next year.

I must agree with the pundits and Pierre Dorion, not columnist Kelly Egan. Signing a third-line centre who has only scored over 20 goals once (and then only when given every opportunity to do so) for $6 million a year would not have been a good move, no matter where J-G Pageau was born, what languages he speaks, and how many people have bought the local boy’s sweater.

And about the stars that have recently been traded away, except for Mark Stone, do any of them seem like such a good deal now? Perhaps the time has come to cut Pierre Dorion some slack.
