Loaded handgun seized, two arrested

Police made two arrests Thursday afternoon in a traffic stop in Carlington that yielded a loaded handgun. Members of the neighbourhood resource team pulled the vehicle over on Caldwell Avenue near Bellevue Manor Park at about 2:50 p.m., Ottawa police said in a release Friday. The guns-and-gangs unit laid seven firearms-related charges against a 23-year-old Ottawa man and a 24-year-old man of no fixed address, including careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited and carrying a concealed weapon. They were scheduled to appear in court Friday.
