Police want to hear from you if you see any of these men

- HOPE BERK

From jewelry thieves to Kijiji scammers and violent offenders, Ottawa police are on the lookout for some of the city's most elusive criminals.

Once investigators have exhausted all resources at their disposal, they turn to the public for help. One way they do that is through social media.

“It's a tool that enables us to use the eyes and the ears of the public to help us locate these people that have committed a crime,” said Ottawa police spokesperson Const. Amy Gagnon.

Since March, Gagnon said, the public has been more helpful than in previous years at identifying and locating wanted suspects.

“If we have the general public's help to locate these people, it enables us to actually close these files sooner,” said Gagnon.

“That's part of our role, is to serve and to protect, and being able to charge someone is a form of closure, and helps people that have been victims to be able to move forward.”

Anyone with information about any of the suspects listed below are encouraged to call Ottawa police at 613-236-1222 or to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

If you come across these people in public, Gagnon urges you to dial 911.
