What's open and closed in Ottawa on Family Day

- TAYLOR BLEWETT

The COVID-19 pandemic has already left much of Ottawa closed, and Ontario's shutdown and stayat-home order will still be in effect locally, but Family Day on Feb. 15 will mean some further schedule changes in the capital worth noting in the capital.

There will be no print editions of the Ottawa Citizen or Ottawa Sun on Monday.

SHOPPING

Between holiday retail closures and the provincial pandemic shutdown, your options for in-person shopping on Family Day will be very limited. It's likely best to call ahead or look online to check if/when a particular business will be open. Certain small stores and pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants, and a few Ottawa retail areas are exempt from provincially-mandatory holiday retail closures.

LCBO stores are currently closed on Mondays. All Beer Store locations will be closed.

The Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Family Day.

CITY SERVICES

There won't be any curbside green bin, recycling, garbage or bulky item collection on Family Day.

Pickup will take place on Tuesday instead, and collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

The same goes for multi-residential recycling and green-bin collection, but multi-residential garbage pickup will take place as scheduled.

The Trail Waste Facility will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city's 311 contact centre will remain open for urgent municipal issues. You can reach a customer service rep by calling 311 or 613580-2400.
